Friday Night Donuts

It is Friday night and K and J came over with their son.  We are partying down.  (Okay, playing in the kitchen and watching Grimm.)  It’s nice to feel normal, at least as close as I get.

I am allergic to about a thousand things, yet I refuse to feel restricted in my eating.  Because of this I do a lot of experimenting (and a lot of failing).  I’m trying a new gratitude practice, and tonight I am grateful for (and thought I’d share it with you all) friends who are willing to happily join me in making (and eating) new experiments.  🙂

K doesn’t like sweets, so we saved some of these for him unfrosted and unfilled.  The rest of us scarfed down on these fully tricked out… Boston Cream Donuts!

They aren’t too bad!  And K says he thinks that the basic dough has potential for savory things like… dinner rolls!  I can’t tell you how long it’s been since I had a dinner roll.  Or even bread!  (I can’t have nuts, grain, or EGGS!  Boo!)  So I’m excited to try adapting this recipe (and correcting a few of the minor flaws).

I am trying to work on my last Tem and John story…  It’s going slow for some reason, so no sexy fun for tonight.  But so I don’t leave you all empty handed…

FOOD PORN!

I’m very good at following a recipe… 🙂 This woman, http://www.thespunkycoconut.com lives near me and makes up awesome recipes without grain and occasionally without eggs and all of them adapted to my altitude (obviously). The secret to these is psyllium powder (the stuff Metamucil is made of). It’s darn amazing stuff. Made actually chewy/springy dough instead of dense/crumbly crap that I usually have to deal with.
